There are two methods in choosing a ring for your mate. In the first, you consult your lady love to find out what she likes. In the second, you don't consult her, but instead trust your infallible manly instincts. This latter method is not for the faint of heart. The consultation approach can be direct: "Hey, Honey, what do you say we go shopping for rings this afternoon. I'd kind of like to see what turns you on." Or indirect: "Oh, look over there, Honey. It looks as if a new jewelry store must have just opened. Oh... and look at that diamond ring in the window. Boy, is that ever sparkly? Is that something you would ever wear?" You find out what she wants and then surprise her next week by presenting it to her. If you decide to trust your instincts and not consult your companion, a few hints are in order. Determine his or her style. Look at his or her lifestyle, as well as, existing clothes and jewelry. Casual or formal? Athletic or sedentary? New age or old fashioned? Career woman or stay-at-home mom? Got it? Now make use of that macho sixth sense and pick something out. (And don't forget to save the receipt and ask about the exchange policy!) Now if neither of these methods is right for you, there is a third "combo" method I should mention. Call Calla!
